In November 2018 Peter Wells, a teacher at the school, was convicted of 7 counts of indecent assault and 5 counts gross indecency, in respect of three boys. Peter Wells was also an athletics coach and a Scout leader.
On the 7th December 2018 he was sentenced to 15 years in jail, in respect of offences spanning 1974 to 1992. He was sentenced in respect of offences against three boys, on school trips, athletic sessions and at cub scouts.
He was subsequently charged with further offences. In July 2021 Peter Wells admitted further counts of sexual abuse. He is due to be sentenced on the 2 September 2021 at Wood Green Crown Court.
