In November 2018 Peter Wells, a teacher at the school, was convicted of 7 counts of indecent assault and 5 counts gross indecency, in respect of three boys. Peter Wells was also an athletics coach and a Scout leader. On the 7th December he was sentenced to 15 years in jail, in respect of offences spanning 1974 to 1992. He was sentenced in respect of offences against three boys, on school trips, athletic sessions and at cub scouts.
