Sivaguru Narendran, Convicted Sex Offender
Sivaguru Narendran was convicted of sexually assaulting a 12-year-old boy, in 1996. The offence took place at Stoke Mandeville hospital when the boy was blindfolded and sexually assaulted. The boy immediately had the courage to tell his parents, who reported the matter to the police. The doctor from Stoke Mandeville hospital was put on trial. He was convicted and handed down an immediate custodial sentence of 21 months. The judge said, doctors are trusted with the bodies of people. This was a bad breach of trust.
Following his release from prison, Sivaguru Narendran continue to work. However, more victims came forward, much later, resulting in the doctor standing trial for a second time in 2018, answering allegations of sexual assaults carried out in the 1980s and 1990s.
The victims all came into contact with the doctor while he worked at The Horder Centre, Crowborough and Eastbourne District General Hospital, Sussex. Sivaguru Narendran was found guilty of offences against boys. The court sentenced the the doctor a 12 year prison term. He was also given a lifetime sexual harm prevention order.
Sivaguru Narendran died in early 2020.
